Archaeologists have uncovered nearly 30 ancient Indian inscriptions etched inside rock‑cut tombs at Egypt’s Valley of the Kings, dating back about 2,000 years. Most of these inscriptions are in Tamil‑Brahmi (Tamili), with others in Sanskrit and Prakrit, suggesting that people from different regions of the Indian subcontinent including Tamilakam, northwest, and western India , travelled to Egypt during the 1st–3rd centuries CE.
