The last battle of the Vietnam War took place on May 15, 1975 on Koh Tang Island. Marines were sent on a rescue mission after Khmer Rouge forces seized the U.S. container vessel SS Mayaguez and its crew off Cambodia’s coast. 15 U.S. service members were KIA and three were MIA and later declared dead.
